Daimler's CASE (Connected Autonomous Shared & Services Electric) team explored collaboration opportunities with Finnish startups and scaleups in the Espoo Innovation Garden ecosystem during their 3-day visit to Finland.
The Daimler visit was part of the Startup to Scaleup Launchpad Europe, an EIT Digital activity between Espoo/Finland and the Paris region. Lauchpad Europe is led by Espoo Marketing and partners with Nokia HQ, Nokia Bell Labs in Paris, Systematic, and Cap Digital, two of the largest digital ecosystems in the Paris region.
40 Finnish startups and scaleups either pitched or had one-on-one pre-arranged meetings with Daimler. In addition, Daimler met with Nokia, Startup Sauna, Junction, A Grid, Aalto University Startup Center. Daimler also received an overview of the new actions of the European Space Agency and the United Nations Technology Labs. Further meetings took place with VTT Ventures, Innovation House Finland, EIT Digital, Vendep VC, Icebreaker VC, Maria 01, Ultrahack, Digital Forum Finland, and Reaktor Vetures.
“The visit to Espoo Innovation Garden was an eye-opening experience to Daimler in terms of the potential that our startup, technology and innovation ecosystem can offer to international corporates,” says Alfonso Gutierrez, Director, Strategic Partnerships at Espoo Marketing, Espoo Innovation Garden, who is driving the relationship forward with Daimler.
The next steps for Espoo Marketing and DAIMLER is to explore closer involvement and participation possibilities in the Espoo Innovation Garden ecosystem and Finland.
“We are continuing the interaction with DAIMLER regarding their involvement in the Espoo Innovation Garden ecosystem, in terms of events, possible R&D collaboration and startup-related actions,” adds Alfonso Gutierrez.
